Wendys was founded in 1969 by Dave Thomas and John T. Schuessler in 1969 and grown to over 6,700 units behind McDonalds and Burger King. In 2008 the company merged with Arbys and now all units are owned by a company called the Wendy's/Arby's Group. Wendys has over 40,000 employees and over 70 percent of the units are franchises with locations all over the United States.
